SENIOR DIVISION- 7th & 8th Grade

Our Senior Division of the Northeast Junior High Football League (NJHFL) and is typically divided into ‘Varsity’ and ‘Junior Varsity’ teams.  Players in this division are typically in the 7th and 8th grades. The Varsity team is considered a competitive team where playing time is earned, while the Junior Varsity team is still considered a developmental team, where there will be an effort to provide as equal playing time as possible as well as the opportunity to earn a spot in Varsity games.

A typical season includes preseason conditioning, a start of season jamboree, a regular season as determined by the NJHFL, and a playoff format for the top four(4) ranked Varsity teams within that Division. Both teams play in accordance with the NJHFL rules and regulations found within the NJHFL By-Laws and the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) rule book. The NJHFL rules, NJHFL By-Laws and player eligibility can be found under resources.

There are generally four practices per week, with games typically held on Saturday or Sunday; games are generally scheduled based upon the home teams field arrangements as made available to them by their respective towns. Home games are played at Strafford County Courthouse Complex or Saint Thomas Aquanis Athletic Field.

The ability to field a JV team relies heavily upon registration numbers being submitted by the NJHFL due date. If we fail to register enough players to field both a V/JV team we may be placed in a division that only supports a single game per week whereby coaches will do their best to combine a competitive level of play with a focus on building the team as a whole. We may also opt to swing players from the Varsity side under the NJHFL rules of play.

As a general note, the youth division is always the hardest to predict when creating schedules and it is extremely important to get the season off to a solid start by understanding the number of registered players we have each season. We respectfully request you register as early as possible and help to spread the word to aid in season planning.

In order to bring the “best of both worlds” we look forward to dividing our players into two teams as numbers allow. Our "Travel Team" (Dover Green) will be composed of our more seasoned / skilled players and will play various teams in the NJHFL at home and away. Our "In House '' team (Dover White) will be made up of our newer players and will compete with our neighbor in Rochester for game days within their house league. All youth players will be eligible to transition between teams as abilities improve and the younger players develop and earn their mettle to face the stiffer competition. Youth teams will all practice together.
